Rear Spoiler / Seams

Ron Schofield @ Tuesday, June 29th, 2010 ()

Since the body was upside down, it was easy to work on sanding the seams that I had filled with HSRF. I also work on the rear of the body since it was easier to work on. Using this opportunity, I will continue to work on the underside of the body until I have everything […]

Upside Down World.. I Meant Body

Ron Schofield @ Monday, June 28th, 2010 ()

I had a fellow local builder drop by and help me turn the body over on the body jig. This will allow me to fiberglass the front of the rear spoiler which I couldn’t reach previously.

After catching him up with my build and he left, I started grinding and preparing the surfaces that I plan […]

Wonderful Woman

Ron Schofield @ Monday, June 28th, 2010 ()

Through this whole build of myCoupe, I have had the most wonderful woman supporting me, my wife. She has encouraged me to keep going when the project looked like it would never end. Today she went one step farther and suggested that she could come out and help me sand the body work that I […]

It’s A Grind.. Then Sand, Then Fill

Ron Schofield @ Saturday, June 26th, 2010 ()

I spent the entire day grinding, sanding, filling and then more sanding and filling. I ground away the excess fiberglass that I had applied the previous day. I ground down as close to the shape as I could. I then used a DA sander with 40 grit paper to shape it to the correct contour. […]

Outside Fiberglass

Ron Schofield @ Thursday, June 24th, 2010 ()

I ground down the joints for the pieces that I added to the body. I then fiber glassed them. The fenders were ground and fiber glassed in the areas where they were not flush to the body. This will help in blending the fenders to the body.

Rear Spoiler

Ron Schofield @ Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010 ()

I removed the mold to see the results of attaching the rear spoiler. The mold really helped position the spoiler as it is in correct location.

Now that most of the rear is complete, it will be time to grind the seams and fill with fiberglass and 3M HSRF.

Rear Side Markers / Rear Spoiler

Ron Schofield @ Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010 ()

I did some more work on the rear side markers. I did another skim of HSRF to flatten out the inside. I then fiber glassed the inside rear edge of the side marker. This will give the side marker lamp something to sit against. I also fiber glasses in a piece of aluminum to have […]

Passenger Side Fender / Rear Side Markers

Ron Schofield @ Monday, June 21st, 2010 ()

I removed the passenger side fender mold to see the new fender.

I then prepared the rear side markers area for the addition of HSRF. The plan is to make a flat area on the outside so the marker will fit to the body. I will then flare the flat area to the body. I also […]

Father’s Day

Ron Schofield @ Sunday, June 20th, 2010 ()

I had some help on this fathers day. We removed the driver and passenger side fender molds to see how the new pieces fit. The drivers side fender looked good. There was only one small section that the surfaces weren’t perfect and that was only off by about 1/16 of an inch. Using the molds […]

Saturday R & R (Remove and Replace)

Ron Schofield @ Saturday, June 19th, 2010 ()

This was the big day in terms of fiberglass. This was the day to remove the drivers side fender and replace it with the new one that I made with the mold. I had previously marked where I would cut the body to remove the old fender. I picked a line on the body that […]
